Luxury Chauffeur Service
Professionally trained chauffeurs distinct from rideshare and taxi drivers — background-checked, defensive-driving certified, discreet, available 24/7 in 18 US cities.
A chauffeur is not a driver. A driver delivers you to a destination; a chauffeur delivers you in the state you need to be in to do whatever comes next — calm, on time, focused, and confidential. Black Swan's luxury chauffeur service operates with full-time professional chauffeurs across 18 US cities, vetted via criminal and motor-vehicle background checks at hire and annually, drug-tested on a regular cadence, defensive-driving certified, and trained on airport meet-and-greet protocol, executive discretion, route planning, and the dozens of small details that separate a chauffeured ride from a rideshare ride. Tenure matters here: the median Black Swan chauffeur has been with us 5-10 years, which means the chauffeur who picks you up on a recurring corporate program learns your preferences over time (route, temperature, conversation style, music) and removes friction the second time you ride and every time after. This service applies whether your booking is a single airport transfer or a multi-day executive roadshow across NYC, SF, LA, Chicago, and Boston — chauffeur is the *people* layer, vehicle classes (sedan, SUV, Sprinter, bus) are layered on top. For the vehicle side of the conversation see /services/limousine-service; for confidentiality-focused executive roadshow logistics see /services/financial-roadshows.

How It Works
- Vetting + training (pre-hire)Criminal background check, motor-vehicle record check, drug test, defensive-driving certification course, in-vehicle trainer ride-alongs, written test on Black Swan protocol (passenger discretion, escort etiquette, route handling). Annual re-vetting on background + MVR + drug test.
- Booking preferencesEach booking captures preferred conversation level (silent / professional / friendly), preferred climate, music preference, route preference, escort details (will there be a wedding party / security detail / kids), and any safety constraints. Chauffeur briefed before pickup.
- Pickup protocolChauffeur arrives 15-30 minutes before pickup. For airports: inside-terminal meet-and-greet at baggage claim with printed sign or branded tablet, takes luggage, walks the guest to the vehicle. For executive commute: curbside on time, vehicle staged in the correct direction, door opened.
- During the rideTrained silence unless addressed. Privacy partition standard on Luxury Sedan (BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class). For executive Sprinters: advanced soundproofing for confidential calls. Phones / laptops can be used freely — chauffeur is not the audience.
- Standing assignmentFor repeat clients, request the same chauffeur at booking. Continuity builds trust and removes friction (same chauffeur knows your travel patterns, preferred routes during traffic, and your home/office security drill). Industry standard for corporate VIP programs.

Pricing & Billing
Luxury chauffeur service is priced via the vehicle class (sedan $110-140/hr, SUV $115-140/hr, Sprinter $225/hr, buses per-trip). The chauffeur tier is included in the rate. For standing-assignment (same chauffeur queued for recurring rides) there's no incremental fee — it's a request at booking. For security-trained chauffeurs specifically (background-elevated, close-protection trained), pricing is +25-40% over the standard tier and quoted at booking after a brief threat-assessment conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a chauffeur and a driver?
A chauffeur is trained on more than driving: vehicle maintenance, route planning, airport meet-and-greet protocol, executive discretion, defensive driving, and customer service. A chauffeur is a full-time professional with background checks, drug testing, and annual re-certification; a driver (rideshare, taxi) is a part-time gig worker driving a personal vehicle. A driver delivers you to a destination; a chauffeur delivers you in the state you need to be in to do whatever comes next.
How are your chauffeurs vetted?
Criminal background check and motor-vehicle record check at hire and annually. Drug testing on a regular cadence. Defensive-driving certification course (named certification program, not just a YouTube video). In-vehicle trainer ride-alongs before solo dispatch. Written test on Black Swan-specific protocols: passenger discretion, airport meet-and-greet etiquette, route handling, escort details for protected principals.
Can I request the same chauffeur every time?
Yes. Standing assignment is offered for recurring corporate programs and high-value individual clients. Request your preferred chauffeur by name at every booking. Dispatch queues that chauffeur for the slot; the only reason for a relief swap is unavoidable scheduling (the requested chauffeur is on PTO, sick, or covering another principal's emergency). For repeat clients the friction-reduction from standing assignment is the entire reason this tier exists.
Do you provide security-trained chauffeurs?
Yes. A subset of our chauffeur roster is security-trained: defensive-driving certified beyond the base level, basic close-protection trained, briefed on lower-profile routing patterns, vehicle staging awareness, and route-clearance protocols. For high-profile principals, threat-elevated routes, and confidential corporate / legal / political travel. Pricing is +25-40% over the standard tier; quoted at booking after a brief threat-assessment conversation. For specific use-case guidance see /blog/when-you-need-a-security-chauffeur.
Are tips/gratuity included?
Yes. All Black Swan quoted rates include gratuity (15-20% built into the all-in hourly or per-trip rate). If you want to recognise an exceptional chauffeur on top of the included gratuity, $50-100 cash at end of trip is appropriate and welcomed — but never expected. We do not allow our chauffeurs to solicit additional tips.
Multi-language chauffeurs?
Available on request. Common languages covered by our 18-city chauffeur roster: Spanish, Mandarin, French, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Korean, Vietnamese, German, Hindi, Japanese, Italian. Specify at booking; dispatch matches the chauffeur to the language requirement.
What if my chauffeur is unavailable mid-trip (emergency, illness)?
Dispatch monitors every active ride. If a chauffeur has an emergency, a relief chauffeur is dispatched from the same city within 15-30 minutes; the principal is notified immediately. This is the point of having 24/7 live dispatch over an algorithmic rideshare app — humans can react.
Chauffeur dress code?
Black suit, white shirt, dark tie, polished shoes for executive bookings (default). Smart-casual variants available on request for special-occasion bookings (e.g., wedding shuttle in coordinated colours). Chauffeur identification visible (name plate or tablet) so principals know who they are riding with.
